7800 VDOX can't get IP address (DHCP) from cable modem

Post by krystina »

Hi
Been going crazy trying to get the VDOX to work with my cable modem. Have connected it to the EWAN port 4 and am using IPoE but no IP address is being assigned so it appears the DHCP is failing on the router. I can connect successfully to the internet when I connect a PC directly to the modem. EWAN port is lit orange.

What other settings do I need to use? I was advised to use DHCP ONLY but this is not an option on this router.

1. Change the Virgin Modem to router only mode
2. Plug your Virgin modem to the EWAN port on the 7800VDOX (the Virgin modem will have modem port so you must connect this modem port to the EWAN port on the 7800VDOX)
3. On the 7800VDOX, setup a Ethernet connection >> IPOE connection
4. Once setup restart your virgin modem
5. Then check the 'Status >> WAN' page on the 7800VDOX to see if you have a IPv4 address listed.
