Internet connection but can't browse

Post by davidc »

I have an 8800NL which seems to work fine using VDSL and BT Infinity. It goes to my PC (Windows7 pro 64bit) on a wired Ethernet connection. Wireless is not enabled on my software. I have had this set up for two days. The curious thing is that a couple of times yesterday and on first boot up this morning, there was an internet connection showing but I could not get a browser - any browser (IE, Firefox, Opera - Chrome half opened and stuck) - to open let alone open a browsed web page. I could not get into the 8800NL's set up page either. After 10 minutes or so and then changing the Ethernet cable's socket on the 8800NL, the browsers returned to life.

I would like to know what may be causing this behaviour. It may be something very simple. Grateful for any ideas. Thanks.

Should I have "IPv6 this service" enabled? (It's not).

It depends on your ISP (if they support Ipv6)

Also if the issue occurs again try the attached firmware.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

What I meant was what status does it have? Is it beta firmware? I couldn't see it on the Billion UK website associated with the 8800NL (or with anything else).

Yep its the latest beta firmware (you shouldn't have any issues with this firmware from other users posts)

Thanks. If the problem recurs I'll fire it up.
