Connecting usb hard drive as share

Hi

Previously had this up and running and was happily streaming to Sonos players via my billion router.

Copying more files to the hard drive, probably via the share, rather than via direct usb, screwed something and I kept getting error messages saying the share was not available.

I reformatted the drive (ntfs) and have not got it mapped again. I have data on there but this is not showing via the share. The folders I created are showing as empty but they are not. When drive is connected directly to my PC I can see all the files.

What am I doing wrong?

How strange, when you prompted for a username and password (once you restart your computer) try using the admin username password eg default is admin and admin

Hi thanks. But that is not the issue. I know how to get into my router and that has not been the problem. Sorry if my post gave you that impression.

No that's not what I meant, when you attempt to access your hard drive (\\192.168.1.254) you are normally prompted for a username and password, for this username and password try using your default admin username/password which normally used to access the router

When using this admin username/password (eg admin and admin) you should get to see all files on your hard drive. (setup guide shown on page 29 on the attached manual, the username and password I am talking about is listed on page 31)

ok thanks

I created my own username and password on the router rather than using the default.

That's fine, so if you want to access your files that you have copied onto the hard drive already, then use the admin username and password, you should then be able to view your files.
