Bizarre streaming problems

Hello,

I have a weird thing going on when I stream movies on Netflix.

At around 1hr 27mins buffering occurs, this usually makes the film unwatchable thereafter as when it does kick in again it only starts buffering again. This happens across all devices that I am able to stream Netflix on and it doesn't matter if it is a wireless or wired device.

I have raised tickets with my ISP and also had an extensive online chat with Netflix. Netflix suggested that it could be to do with the DNS's I use (I subscribe to a geo-unblocking service) and said I should request an IP Profile reset - er, I think not, as am on 80/20 and don't want to risk losing speeds.

Does anyone think that putting my ISP DNS's back on the router then changing the DNS's on the devices I use, will resolve this? I don't think it will - I know my VPN providers say the Billion isn't supported - but all I am doing is changing the DNS! In fact I have done this since posting this, and still the same problem.

I can post system logs if this helps?

Any suggestion would be good!

Rick.

I too have had problems when streaming Netflix via my FireTV.

It frequently has the 25% loading error, then taking about 2-3 minutes to once again be able to continue watching. I've changed DNS, changed IP address, and other random settings but nothing seems to help.

Glad it just not me - I have FTTC and speeds are 80/20 (ish) - I have had a lengthy chat with my Smart DNS provider this morning and everything is good from that end - they suggested I try another router, I got a HH5 but reluctant to try that as I am scared of DLM kicking in if I switch the routers over. I am hoping that it is something very simple.

I often get it stuck at 25% when I try to stream Netflix after the 1hr 27m 44 sec issue - in the end I often give up trying to continue to watch the movie!
