If you plan on using the a wireless connection between the two, you need to click on the wifi logo on the top right hand corner of your MAC and select your wifi network.

If you plan on using a wired connection (if you mac has a Ethernet port) then it plug and play (just plug the mac into the 7800DXL)

If you are using a wired connection then selecting 'Automatic' in the 'Location' option of the Apple menu may help.
