3G / 4G LTE modem support on 8800AXL?
Hi,
Moving from a 7800DXL to 8800AXL for VDSL support.
Are the same 3G / 4G dongles supported in the 8800AXL?
I hope so as I know one of your other routers I tried did not support as many 3G dongles and I had to send it back
Thanks

It will be same, as they use the same firmware version/osBadMelonFarmer wrote:Hi,

Great!
Thanks for confirming.
now begins the nightmare of duplicating the config between the two units
wish there was a way of printing it out to make it easier .... guess I will just have them both active on different IP Addresses and work with two browser windows on different screens.
thats the downside of more complicated feature sets as I use multiple vlans, 3G failover, DHCP reservations, QOS, multiple SSID's and policy based routing.... sigh

Or take some screen captures of each pageBadMelonFarmer wrote:Great!

I did the same move this week. I used the latest config file from the 7800, opened in Notepad++.BadMelonFarmer wrote:Great!

It's not easy to read, but has all of the info in there, and you can copy and paste some data.
I also changed the LAN IP of the 7800, so that both routers could be accessed simultaneously; I then went through, page by page, checking that I'd covered everything.
Note: re-setting the LAN IP address on the 7800 will clear any statically applied IP addresses, so make sure that you have a screen grab, or refer to the old 'conf' file mentioned above.

Thanks for the tips!
VDSL not going live for a couple of weeks, so I have some time to sort it.
Planning on moving to the 8800 on ADSL2+ first, so hopefully the cut over should be relatively painless.... I guess I will lose connection 4G will kick in then once the line is FTTC enabled it should kick back into life?

Hi BadMelonFarmer. No, you will have to re-configure the WAN connection.BadMelonFarmer wrote:Thanks for the tips!

Ok, thanks
Thinking about it, not really an issue ... When it fails over to 4G... I can just reconfigure the interface

Re: 3G / 4G LTE modem support on 8800AXL?
Hi,
Got it set up the same as the 7800DXL but there seems to be an issue with initiating the 3G/4G connection in that it stays in the "Connecting" status for quite a while... Hour(s) or so.
I thought there may have been an issue with the carrier EE whan I initially set it up on Saturday as it just said connecting and would not route over the 4G connection.
I went out for the evening and all ways good by the time I got back.
I used up my data allowance so changed the SIM to 3 and now I am getting the same "Connecting" status for ages.
I am using the same E5372 as I was on the 7800DXL, using 2.23e on the 8800AXL
Nearly full signal on both 3 and EE
I tried connecting directly to the E5372's wifi and that is connected fine... So it's interface is up, connected back to the 8800AXL and it is still "Connecting" on the 4G interface.
It is set to keep alive and not dial on demand.... Same as I had it on the 7800DXL
Any idea?

WAN status says "Connecting"
But 3G/ LTE status says it is UP
