I would appreciate some help with bridging please.
I have a 7800DXL and would like to add a 7700N in bridging mode. I did find a small post on this forum but cannot understand the details.
Any help welcome
Thanks
David

This setup assumes you are using the 7800DXL as the primary router, please note you will have to use 'WEP' 'Open' security as WPA 2 won't work, (known issues with WDS and different models)
1. Login to your 7800DXL
2. Note down the channel number, and change the security type to 'Network Authentication' 'Open' >> WEP Encryption 'Enabled' >> Encryption Strength >> 64bit >> Current Network Key >> 1 >> Network Key 1 10 digit password characters between a~f and numbers eg 1a2b3c4d5e
3. Login to 7700N, and change the LAN IP so it does not match your 78000DXL, I used 192.168.1.253, also disable the DHCP server (its best to work off a static IP for the time being as the DHCP server is disabled)
4. Match the security password (Open WEP) and type and also the wireless channel
5. Click on 'Wireless >> Wireless Bridge' on the 7700n
6. Change the 'Bridge Restrict:' to 'Enabled (Scan)
7. Select the 2.4ghz wifi channel from the 7800DXL
8. Click on 'Apply/Save'
9. Now on your 7800DXL click on 'Configuration >> Wireless 2.4G (wl0) >> Wireless Bridge
10. Change the 'Bridge Restrict' to Enabled(Scan)
11. Select the wireless signal from the 7700N
12. Click on 'Apply'
That should be it, if needed restart any devices connected to the 7700n

I am afraid I have got stuck on this setup.
I have followed your instructions through several times but when I select Enabled(Scan) nothing comes up on either router.
4. Match the security password (Open WEP) and type and also the wireless channel
I assume that this means the Network key.
Can you think of something I might have missed out.
Thanks

That's strange you should see the other devices SSID, maybe you can try and put the unit closer together

Thanks - I am always the one with the odd problem
I do have a smart Gateway (smart meter) installed connected to the router. Since playing around with the router and restoring my backup it sets all my lights (lan, wifi) flashing and blocks any connection when I plug it in. Don't know if it has any bearing on the case. I can only connect if I remove the Gateway.
The Gateway was plugged in at the time so will try it without.

Worth a try, or even try and manually enter the MAC instead of using the scan option,

I might have had some success with using the MAC option but the problem is that all my other wifi devices lose their connection. Is there a way around this?

As the security key has changed, did you enter the new security key in all wireless devices??
