Long line setup - Any suggestions please

Hello.

This is a long line question
Does anyone have any suggestions on setting up a 7800DXL for this situation.

I'm new to Billion products. Always used Belkin/Netgear which have never let me down.
And they are plug-n-play. So easy to setup.

We were 4K from the cabinet, and moved 2k further away and found that the Belkin
kept dropping sync and had to have a power off reset to re sync.
From the cabinet, its copper over head and lying on the verge as we are rural.

The Billion is stable and I have altered the snr so we now get 1.4Mb down. Up is 448K
This is an increase of 400K on the down side.

The line attenuation is up and down all the time. This is due to water ingress
in the junctions. So things are worse when it rains
Do see errors in the stats.

I need to try and improve as the kids are driving me mad as they get buffering.

There are a lot of settings in the Billion and there isn't much information
on setting them for a long line. Well except the snr.
I brought the Billion as if you browse "long line", the Billion 7800 series are always recommended.

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Regards nick

The only thing you can do is adjust the SNR that what makes the Billion so great on long lines, as you can squeeze the max speeds possible with stability in mind

Maybe you drop the SNR even further and see if you can improve your speeds (remember all lines are different so you will have to find the best SNR value that will give you the best speeds and a stable line)

Hello.

Thank you for the reply. That's what I've been doing.
Wasn't sure if there were any hidden tweeks or menus?

I've been monitoring the statics to see if there is a pattern.

The best I have got so far is a stable 2M for 3 days.
Then we were back to 1.2M

You want to make sure all your wiring is in excellent condition and that you have a BT NTE5 faceplate

Make sure your ring wire is disconnected

As far as the Billion goes:

Manually set ADSL (G.Dmt)

Ensure Phyr is enabled (V. important)
