Hi, I've recently updated my router and I'm having issues with with speed going up and down. Also ping on internal devices seems to be all over the place. Websites it there loading sometimes, other times it loads straight away.

The ISP have checked things from their end and no issues with line and we are getting a good speed to the router.

I've plugged an Ethernet cable into desktop to run btw speed test and the latest reading is 0.66 Mbps download speed.

IP profile is showing as 7.15 Mbps and connection rate of 8.13Mbps

Can anyone help?

It looks like a virtual profile mis-match to me, your ISP should be able to help with that.

Attached is a link to the older firmware (2.32d.dm12) if you wish to test it out first, to confirm

Plusnet say they've done extensive tests on my line and will call an engineer out if I insist it's a problem their end but they'll charge me if router/router settings are to be blamed

Broadband has been OK for last couple of days, now it's started acting up again. From Ookla speed test it's really jerky and is now hitting just under 2 Mbps, I don't understand what's going on.

I'm going to revert back to the firmware in the link but tbh I don't think it is that it may have been a coincidence, thanks for posting that

Try the older firmware first, if you still have issues, try a different modem/router and monitor the connection over a number of days to see if the same issue occurs

Replaced the billion with plusnet router Sunday night and it seems stable. Now getting average of 7Mbps on BTW speed test. I've tested several times today, speed has remained the same although ping has been anything from 40ms up to 200ms

Can you try adding the following QOS rule

Ok I'll give it a shot. Don't understand how the QoS rules work can you explain what that rule is doing also Do I need to keep old firmware or update to new?

Keep the old firmware, it should be fine, this rule is limiting the upload so it doesn't use up all the bandwidth, when all the upload bandwidth is used up, the download speeds would grind to a halt or to almost unusable speeds like what you are getting.
