I have a problem with my IPv6 connection. My ISP (OVH) give me a /56 IPv6 and I must fix an /64 IPv6 to use with Windows.

My 7800N receive the address 2001:41d0:fde0::d8d/128 from the ISP (DNS : 2001:41D0:1:E2B8::1/128 and 2001:41D0:3:163::1/128). After this, my LAN must use the 2001:41d0:fc86:ae00::/56 to distribute IPv6 to my LAN .

I fixed the IPv6 LAN address to 2001:41d0:fc86:aede::1/64.

Windows 8 get 4 addresses :
- A fix IPv6 in the slot 2001:41d0:fc86:ae00::/64
- A temporary IPv6 in the same slot
- A fix IPv6 in the slot 2001:41d0:fc86:aede::/64
- A temporary IPv6 in the same slot

Windows 8 doesn't receive the DNS...

I can't ping any of the addresses from the outside. My ISP say it's because my 7800N don't support the prefix delegation but it's maybe a configuration problem.

Could you explain to me how set my 7800N to use IPv6 ?

Try setting 2001:41d0:fc86:aede::/64, so without the "1" to Auto LAN IPv6 config on the 7800N.

As make sure you enable "Router Advertisements"

Then save your settings and restart your computer.

Have you tried to use a win 7 machine?? The only release of windows 8 is RTM version.

There is no known problems with IPv6 on the 7800N, tested working with IDnet, Enta, Andrew and Arnold ISP's.

Have you tried to let the 7800N obtain your IPv6 info automatically??

Have you asked your ISP what your IPv6 WAN address should be?? In the UK they seem different.

The problem isn't Windows 8 (and the RTM version is the final commercial version!).

I asked my ISP and it's maybe a problem with the automatic configuration. The 7800N gets a IPv6 in /64 instead of /56. The address obtained can't be ping by my ISP... The support have opened a ticket to check the line and the DHCPv6 auto-configuration on them network. It's the first step. When my 7800N will take a correct IPv6, I hope Windows will find the DNS and the correct IPv6 in the /64 fixed. If not, I'll come back here to try to solve the problem.

Thanks for the update, I think the issue must be with the ISP, as we would of been flooded with emails if our IPv6 function was playing up.

I come back with new informations from my ISP.

Here, the answer after testing :

Nous avons tenté plusieurs choses, et il s'avère que de base, le routage de l'IPv6 fonctionne mal sur le routeur.
Le busybox du modem ne reconnait pas sa propre IPv6 et de ce fait, ne sait pas la pinger, partant de là, il devient compliqué de la router.

Le soucis vient donc du routeur, qui, malgré le fait qu'il soit "IPv6 ready" ne gère pas l'IPv6. Je vous invite à
changer de routeur si vous souhaitez mettre en place l'IPv6 sur votre réseau.

I continued my tests and compare with another OVH customer. My friend use a Linksys router IPv6 ready.
- He can't ping the WAN IPv6 of the router from Internet (same as me).
- He can ping the LAN IPv6 of the router autoconfigured from Internet (not me). I tried without fixe the IPv6 of the router (autoconfig) and with.
- He use the autoconfig IPv6 for LAN (DHCPv6 disable). I try with and without, no change.
- He use another connection protocole than me (MPoA for me). He must check his settings to give me the protocole used.
- Windows obtaints correctly the DNS in IPv6 (not for me).

I don't know if this can help you to find the problem. It's like the LAN IPv6 doesn't exit on Internet. Perhaps I must add a route or change a setting to accept the LAN have access to Internet ?
