Hi, i am a total noob so any help or advise would be great.

I am currently on adsl+2 and using a Billion 7800DXL and love it far more stable than my old HH5 in a few days time i will be getting Infinity 2 Fibre so in preparation i ordered a Huawei 612 - so i can continue to use my billion as a router

last night i spend hours trying to get everything working on the ADSL so when infinity kick in i do nto need to change anything.

I plugged in the 612 powered it up and it is showing a stable green light on the DSL so assume it is talking ok to the internet.

I then plugged Lan port 4 of the 7800 into lan 1 of the 612 and ran through as per the instruction book the quick start for Ewan adding in my bt log in etc.

everything seams to work up until this point but the billion router just then sticks on the trying to configure which means i have not connection to the net.

i have reset the router back to defaults and restarted it but still no joy

any help or suggestions please.

for info my 612 is unlocked but i am at this point not worried about stats etc. just getting it working

BT Infinity Setup 7800DXL >> Fibre Modem

1. Login to the 7800DXL
2. Click on 'Configuration >> WAN >> WAN Service'
3. Click on the 'Add' button to add a new WAN interface
4. Change the 'WAN Port' to 'Ethernet'
5. Make sure the 'Type' is set to 'PPPOE' and then enter your BT username and password in the sections provided and click on 'Next'
6. Under 'Available Routed WAN Interfaces' you will see your new PPPOE WAN connection, click on it to select it and click on the 'Arrow' pointing left so it should be listed under 'Selected Default Gateway Interfaces'
7. Do the same for the PPPOE connection that is listed under 'Available WAN Interfaces' so it should now be listed under 'Selected DNS Server Interfaces' and click on 'Next'
8. Now click on 'Status >> WAN' and check to see if your PPPOE WAN connection has obtained a IP address from your VDSL modem
