downgraded to 2.32d.dh65 to try to reolve random LCP reset by peer errors or complete LCP/PPP drop outs
Is there any issues regarding this with 2.32d firmware and the 8800NL/AXL?

Not that I'm aware of, (if there was the forum would be flooded with complaints)pctech wrote:Is there any issues regarding this with 2.32d firmware and the 8800NL/AXL?

This still happens with the dh65 firmware too, but nowhere near as frequently as it does with the later firmwares. I've had uptimes of 6 weeks on DH65, but I still seem to get the LCP reset by peer error where sync is maintained, but the PPP session dropped. I couldn't get more than a few days with later firmwares.
I had a LCP reset by peer ppp drop at the weekend whilst on dh65, so I'm currently back on the Openreach HG612 + Asus router to make 100% sure that this isn't a line issue and I will continue to test

I'd be interested to hear how you are getting on now that you've downgraded.
Openreach HG612 + Asus router has had 2 weeks uptime with no LCP/PPP dropouts and I am continuing to test

Re: downgraded to 2.32d.dh65 to try to reolve random LCP reset by peer errors or complete LCP/PPP drop outs
Hi all
The downgrade did seem to make things more stable but being a tinkerer I decided to reapply 2.32e with factory settings and then reconfigured everything.
LCP resets started occurring every one to two days and I completely lost PPP but not sync last Saturday and had to force a resync by adjusting DSL settings.
Since Wednesday I have had a British Gas Hive hub connected (this allows monitoring and control of central heating from a mobile app or via the web).
This maintains a high level of connectivity to it's server application, thus far I've not seen an LCP timeout which makes me wonder if the problem occurs when activity is low and the router component sleeps.

I've seen a few LCP timeouts this weekend whilst using the HG612 and an Asus Router after 7 weeks of uptime which produce entries like this in the log
Mar 12 23:10:57 pppd[570]: No response to 10 echo-requests
Mar 12 23:10:57 pppd[570]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Sync is maintained with the cabinet but the PPP session to Zen drops and restarts.
I've now seen this on 3 different setups (Billion 8800AXL, Zyxel 8934 and HG612 + Router) so I'm pretty sure it is a ISP issue as we are both on Zen as I've rued out the hardware angle.
I'll drop their tech guys an email tomorrow to see i they have any input

http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/zen/t/ ... loads.html is worth a read as it looks like Zen are having some issues at the moment which is seeing users having PPP drop outs as they move from one gateway to another
